Despite having lived in or visited various incredible ecosystems around the world, the Esteros del Iberá caught my heart the instant I encountered it. A place like no other, Corrientes province pulls me back as often as I can manage.
Across this region one finds extensive cattle raising, pine and eucalyptus production, vast rice production, a hydroelectric power plant, a combination of provincial and national parks, ecotourism entrepreneurs, the Rewilding Foundation, and various other socio-ecological actors. The complexity of these relations makes it all the more interesting.
Some of the species included here are the Mono carayá, Yetapá de Collar, Tingazú, Oso Hormiguero, Ciervo de los Pantanos, Capuchino Iberá, Federal, Cardenal Copete Rojo, Martin Pescador, Brasita de Fuego, Celestino, and others.
